Launch of the Rajasthan Silicosis Elimination Programme and Vocational Skill Training for Silicosis-Affected Mine Workers

Mine Labour Protection Campaign Trust (MLPC) successfully launched the Rajasthan Silicosis Elimination Programme by organizing a Free Vocational Training Programme for silicosis-affected and vulnerable mine workers. The programme focused on the rehabilitation of silicosis victims through skill development, safe technologies, and dignified alternative livelihoods. Participants were introduced to modern dust control technologies and mechanized mining practices, including demonstrations of dust collection machines. During the programme, discussions were held on preparing a proposal for the adoption of modern dust control machines in Rajasthan's mining sector, with the objective of reducing silica dust exposure, creating employment opportunities for trained silicosis victims, and contributing towards the elimination of silicosis.
